seven signs of a Desirable friend1. A desirable friend tells you the truth in love. "Faithful are the wounds of a friend, but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful" (Proverbs 27:6)
2. A desirable friend gives you sound advice. "Ointment and perfume delight the heart, and the sweetness of a man's friend gives delight by hearty counsel" (Proverbs 27:9)
3. A desirable friend helps you become a better person. "As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend" (Proverbs 27:17)
4. A desirable friend helps you become a wiser person. "He who walks with wise men will be wise, but the companion of fools will be destroyed" (Proverbs 13:20)
5. A desirable friend remains close to you, even in the tough times. "A man who has friends must be himself friendly, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother" (Proverbs 18:24)
6. A desirable friend loves you and stays by you, even when you do stupid things. "A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity" (Proverbs 17:17)
7. A desirable friend helps you when you are having trouble in your life so you won't have to go through it alone. "Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is along when he falls, for he has no one to help him up" (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10)
seven signs of an Undesirable friend
1. An undesirable friend is ungodly and doesn't care if he hurts other people. "I have written to you no to keep company with anyone names a brother, who is sexually immoral, or covetous, or and idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner - not even to eat with such a person" (1 Corinthians 5:11)
2. An undesirable friend is changeable and unstable and you never know how to person is going to act from one day to the next. "Do not associate with those given to change; for their calamity will rise suddenly, and who knows the ruin those two can bring?" (Proverbs 24:21-22)
3. An undesirable friend is often angry about something. "Make no friendship with an angry man, and with furious man do not go, lest you learn his ways and set a snare for your soul" (Proverbs 22:24-25)
4. An undesirable friend gives you bad and ungodly advice. "Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful" (Psalm 1:1)
5. An undesirable friend is an unbeliever and who doesn't obey the law. "Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord had Christ with Belial? Or what part of believer with an unbeliever? (2 Corinthians 6:14-15)
6. An undesirable friend does foolish things, a fool does things without thinking through what the consequences will be. "He who walks with wise men will be wise, but the companion of fools will be destroyed" (Proverbs 13:20)
7. An undesirable friend is not reverent toward God and His laws. "I am a companion of all who fear You, and of those who keep Your precepts" (Psalm 119:63)
